Noira’s family line has always had badass women that could always wrap men around their fingers. Her mother was one of them. Mrs. Versailles (they’re all too stubborn to change their surnames after marriage) never backs out from a challenge and even accepted a challenge from an old classmate to make the mayor fall in love with her. Noira’s dad didn’t like this, but her mother promised that she would never truly love the mayor. Since Mrs. Versailles had him wrapped around her finger, Mr. Versailles agreed. She seemed to accomplish her challenge. She tried hard, way too hard. She ended up loving the mayor and because she loved him, she had to tell the truth. The mayor was beyond angry and let her be whipped to death. It broke both Noira’s dad and Noira. But more than that, it broke Noira that her mother had broken her promise. Because people of the Versailles bloodline are not meant to break promises. From that day on, Noira promised to never break a promise. She promised her dad that it would get better. Noira has been training herself since after her mother died. They used to do it together, but Noira had to train harder since the mayor let Peacekeepers attack her when no one was watching. She had to defend herself and stay strong.

THE REAPING

“Noira Versailles.”

The words bounced around my head. Probably through my dad’s head, too. I have just been reaped for the 52nd Hunger Games. No, no, no. This couldn’t be happening. I promised my dad that things would get better. But this is just worse. Why? Why is life challenging me so much? I wanted to break down, run into my dad’s arms. But I knew I couldn’t. I just thought, You know what, life? Since you’re challenging me, I will accept your challenge. I will try to go through this and survive this. I will try for my dad. I promise.

THE TRIBUTE PARADE

Heavy, my outfit is heavy. I feel tied down. Maybe I am, I am tied down because of the Capitol. They gave me armour that looks gold, but it’s actually copper just to make it heavier. My stylist wanted to add a spear to my outfit but the president didn’t approve because they didn’t trust me. They thought I would throw the spear when I got the chance. I can't blame them for not trusting me, though. Now I have a sword instead. Technically, I can kill my district partner with this. But she looks like a nice girl and I don’t want to murder her, honestly. Also, they made this sword even heavier. The president himself had to let me know that there would be consequences if I misbehaved and used the sword in my hands. I had to keep the sword high. My arms become incredibly sore from holding the sword up. It’s really heavy. But I have to do it. Now at least my father can see me with this really badass armour on. I will smile and behave just for him. I hope he knows I love him, so, so much.

TRAINING

Noira Versailles received a training score of 8.

Training days

I've already planned out what I will do during training so I don't have to waste time in the gym thinking about it. When we arrive, I decide to do some hand-to-hand combat just to get in shape again. It helps me relieve so much stress. When I go to the station for swords, the instructor notices that I am already pretty skilled. An actual nice feeling washes over me, and I got it from a Capitol person. I still have it in me to rule over the sword. I just have to stay in shape and practice, practice, practice. Like my mum always told me. You've never learned enough, you can always improve, no matter what. I keep practicing, getting in shape, and planning for my private session. I have to think this through since I just love it to surprise people. Suddenly, I realize that I know how to attack and protect myself. But I don’t really know how to actually survive. I know some basic plants, but I didn’t knew how to build a shelter. I don't want other tributes see the panic on my face. So I put my poker face on and walk calmly to the shelter making station. I hope people won’t take advantage of this flaw of my qualities.

Private session

Three days have passed and the real games come closer and closer every hour. But I decide not to be nervous. My private session is today. But as my dad once said, "If you think it through, you don’t have to be scared to make mistakes. Because you tried your best.” So that’s what I do, I think it through. In District Two, I always took small portions of different kind of poisons. So I could build up an immune system for them. It's worked pretty well because I once saw the mayor get furious after he saw that I didn’t collapse when I finished his "self baked" cake. I knew I had to be prepared for anything, the wrath of my mayor knew no bounds. So today I decide to show the gamemakers some drama. I wonder if someone will have a heart attack. When I arrive, I immediately walk to the edible plants station. I saw some poisons there. Good, very good, so far everything is going according to plan. I try not to look at the gamemakers. I slowly sort the plants into two categories, poisonous and edible plants. Once they're all sorted, I grab a poisonous plant and eat it. I hear a few gasps. That only stimulates me to eat another one. Thoughts of my life in District Two fill my head. I am so far away in my mind that I don't notice that I've already eaten all the poison. I give the gamemakers a low bow but I get up quick just to show them that I’m still able to move. Well, I just pulled of a show there, huh?

THE INTERVIEW

Hello, you look dazzling tonight! Tell us about your outfit.

Good evening! Well about my outfit, you see I’m wearing something other than a dress, but don’t you think it’s still stylish? My stylist let me choose my whole outfit because he trusted my fashion sense. My mum used to wear these kinds of suits. I was always obsessed with them. I kind of adopted  my mum’s fashion sense. Also the rings I wear on my pinky are rings I got from my dad.

How do you like being in the Capitol so far? What has been your favorite part?

Well it’s alright here. People usually don’t bother me in my spare time so I can have some alone time. I love to wander through the hallways and let my mind run while doing that.

Any thoughts about the other tributes? Have you made any friends, or enemies?

I’ve sure made some acquaintances, but I’m not sure if I can call them friends already. I don’t want to jump too fast into conclusions, you know. And from my perspective, I don’t have any enemies, maybe someone sees me as their enemy. But I see everyone here as other people who are just stuck here.

Do you think you have what it takes to become a victor? Who or what are you fighting for?

I will definitely do whatever it takes to become a victor. It might sound rude to my allies but my dad is at home and he doesn’t have anyone. He is the reason I’m staying strong. And deep inside, we all have something that we fight for. And for me it’s my dad

Do you have any expectations for the arena? Perhaps a preferred terrain?

It’d be great if I could find food there, and poisonous plants. Other than that I don’t have a really preferred terrain. Well, maybe if it could be not too hot in there, that would actually be awesome!

What do you miss most from your home district? Any shoutouts for anyone back home?

I think being able to fight alone. I usually practice fighting in my spare time alone with dummies. But here in the Capitol I have to train with other tributes. I’m just not totally comfortable with that since it’s a new experience for me, too. But most of all I miss my dad. He’s the most important person in my life. He’s the reason I’m living and he’s worth dying for.
