Cassia is sweet, kind, and gentle; well-liked by many people in the district and well-loved by those who know her best. She’s really interested in her district’s work and finds agriculture and learning about the plants thrilling, so she pays attention in school when they learn about these things. She has both of her parents and a thirteen-year-old brother. When she’s not in school, Cassia works with her parents to prepare for her future career in District Eleven.

THE REAPING

Cassia was nervous. Despite this, she takes her place amongst the other seventeen-year-old girls in District Eleven and takes a deep breath. She tries to calm herself down. After all, it’s her second to last year being eligible for the reaping and, since she’s made it this far without being picked, she’s sure she'll be okay this year, too. But alas, after the mayor has given his spiel, the escort reaches into the bowl and pulls out a slip of paper with her name written on it. As expected, there are no volunteers. Cassia feels her heart drop and she’s nervous again. She really doesn’t think she’ll be returning home

THE TRIBUTE PARADE

Cassia was extremely nervous for the parade. Her makeup was uncomfortable and her dress was far too heavy. It pooled around her small body and made her feel frail. No amount of deep breathing or counting or meditation could assuage her anxiety. At the very least, she had Chantria, an acquaintance from back home in District Eleven. After getting into the chariot, Cassia immediately felt it lurch forward and gripped the sides to keep herself steady. The lights and colors that greeted her once they pulled out onto the avenue were overwhelming and did nothing to make her feel less nervous. She and Chantria held hands, both terrified and seeking any form of comfort. Cassia tried to smile and wave a bit, gaining some attention from the crowd. Bouncing between smiling and holding tight to the chariot in an effort to not fall out, Cassia hoped that she didn’t look as scared as she felt.

TRAINING

Cassia Aster received a training score of 10.

Training days

Cassia has never touched a weapon in her life, so she spent a majority of her training trying to familiarize herself with them. She found she liked knives the best; she didn’t think she had a chance with any form of combat so having a knife close by to surprise an attacker seemed to be her best bet. She also spent time at the plants station with Chantria. They both did well in this station, and Cassia found it comforting to know she may be familiar with any plants that may be in the arena. She brushed up on some survival skills as well, but having spent most of her life outside in District Eleven, she felt confident in things like starting fires.

Private session

During her private session, Cassia mainly focused on her knowledge of plants. She did try to show she had grown competent enough with a knife, but felt her chances at a good score laid best with her plants. She mostly just tried to show the gamemakers she wasn’t useless, and knew a little bit of everything.

THE INTERVIEW

Hello, you look dazzling tonight! Tell us about your outfit.

Thank you! I love my outfit tonight! Green is one of my favorite colors - it reminds me so much of home and working in District Eleven. I love the simple touches my stylist included as I’m not one for big fashion. I really feel this outfit captures me and can help tell the audience who I am inside!

How do you like being in the Capitol so far? What has been your favorite part?

The Capitol has been wonderful! Everything is so amazing here. My favorite part has been the food, without a doubt. Everything tastes so good and I haven’t been hungry once since arriving!

Any thoughts about the other tributes? Have you made any friends, or enemies?

The other tributes seem great! It’s a shame the Games will start so soon, but I’ve definitely met a few I think will have my back in the arena. Especially Chantria from home and Twyla from District 8 - we’ve grown close.

Do you think you have what it takes to become a victor? Who or what are you fighting for?

I do think I have what it takes to be a victor. I was scared in the beginning but thanks to training I’m starting to become more confident in myself. I am fighting for District Eleven and to show others who may be reaped in the future that even if you’re from an outlying district, you still have a chance at winning.

Do you have any expectations for the arena? Perhaps a preferred terrain?

I have absolutely no clue what the arena will be like! All I’m hoping for are plants and lots of them! I’ve gotten very used to plants back home and feel confident my knowledge of them will be my greatest asset in the arena.

What do you miss most from your home district? Any shoutouts for anyone back home?

The thing I miss most from back home is definitely my family. I love them very much and hope I will get to see them again!

Any last thoughts before we let you go?

My last thought goes out to anyone who may be doubting my skills. I know coming from an outlying district I don’t seem likely to become a victor - but I feel everyone is always surprised by who they see doing well in the arena.
