Emma grew up in a career district, so she’s spent her whole life training for these games. Being somewhat on the smaller side, she’s often been overlooked and seen as weak, so she wanted to be in the Games to prove everyone wrong.
THE REAPING
When the name of the female tribute was called, Emma jumped up before anyone else had the chance to volunteer. Everyone in District One groaned at the thought of having her fight to represent them, but it just filled her with a deeper determination. She would prove them all wrong.

THE TRIBUTE PARADE
Emma was excited as they lined the tributes up in their chariots. She and Opal would be the first to enter, being from District One, which meant all eyes would be on them and she certainly wasn’t going to let them down. She and Opal had worked with their designers to create the perfect outfits. From the gold flakes and eye shadow over their faces, to the lace up high heels they’d chosen to match their Greek style dresses. She felt powerful. Like she truly was a queen. The chariot pulled forward and a jolt of excitement filled her. The crowd went wild at the sight of them. She stood tall and strong and waved as a queen would to the spectators. It was surreal to be standing there, with hundreds of people calling out her name as she rode along the path. If she was to die in a few days, this was definitely an experience she was glad she got to have before then.

TRAINING
Emma Adler received a training score of 11.
Training days
On day one, Emma went to weapons first. This was her forte, after all. She’d trained her entire life for this moment. She picked up a sword and began to spar with the dummy. It wasn’t much fun as a dummy can’t really fight back, but after putting on the proper protection, the instructor moved in to spar with her using a dull blade. Emma fought like a beast. Being somewhat small and insignificant in her district, she was often overlooked, but they underestimated her abilities. It was a fairly long fight but she managed to knock the blade from the instructor's hand and pin him to the ground, her blade to his throat. She hopped up and helped him up, too. She stayed to practice fighting.
On day two, Emma decided to try some new things out. She learned to build a fire and then spent as much time as she could at the identifying plants station. She knew that this would be a vital skill to have. She knew a little bit of course, but this wasn’t what her training had focused on. She’d gotten fairly good at it. Not perfect of course, but good.
The final day she dedicated purely to first aid. She knew this skill would be one of the most critical she could learn.
Private session
Emma wasn’t the slightest bit nervous as she waited for her turn to enter the private training. She’d worked for this her whole life. As they prepared to go in, she glanced over at Opal, trying to read her partner's expression but she kept her face empty of emotion. They would be the first to go in being, from District One, so they didn’t have to wait long at all before their names were called. Emma wasn’t entirely sure what she wanted to do, but she knew it had to be something to do with weapons. She decided on throwing knives. They’d already seen her skill with a sword in the day-to-day training after all. She grabbed a knife and held it in her hand, gauging the weight of the blade. She aimed it at the dummy in front of her and threw hard. It struck right where the dummies heart would be. She could’ve kept going with that, but she knew it would quickly bore the judges. Instead, she threw the knife so it missed the dummy by half an inch. The judges looked a little confused. She’d just made a perfect mark and now she’d missed, but it didn’t concern her she even smirked a little at the game makers expressions. She continued to throw them missing the dummy each time by about the same amount. She stepped back so the judges could see what she’d done. She’d thrown them to outline the dummy and show just how true her aim was. She then grabbed three knives and she threw them together, hitting the center with all three. She took a little bow and exited from the room. Hopefully it had been enough to impress them.
THE INTERVIEW
Hello, you look dazzling tonight! Tell us about your outfit.
My stylist and I decided it would be better to go with a more simple outfit tonight to accent my natural beauty. The locket I’m wearing is my district token. It belonged to my mother before she died, and I wanted to have a piece of her with me in the arena.
How do you like being in the Capitol so far? What has been your favorite part?
I’ve loved the Capitol. The food is absolutely amazing here. Being from District One, I’ve always had plenty of good food to eat, but the food here is on another level. And everything is so big and beautiful. The people are absolutely lovely. If I win, it will be wonderful to return each year.
Any thoughts about the other tributes? Have you made any friends, or enemies?
Well, I can’t give away all of my secrets here, now can I? But I will say my district partner, Opal, is an amazing girl. I’ve loved getting to know her better and I hate to think that only one of us can make it out alive.
Do you think you have what it takes to become a victor? Who or what are you fighting for?
Absolutely I do. I’m a career, I’ve trained for this my whole life. You saw my training score. I even tied for the highest score. It will be hard, definitely, but I can do this. I need to make it home to my little sister. She’s all that I have. Our father isn’t around much so I’ve pretty much raised her. She needs me.
Do you have any expectations for the arena? Perhaps a preferred terrain?
Honestly, I have no idea what waits for us in this year’s arena but I’m super excited to see it! I don’t know that I really have a preferred terrain, so we’ll just see what the gamemakers have prepared!
What do you miss most from your home district? Any shoutouts for anyone back home?
Once again I think it would go back to my sister. I just want to make sure she knows that I love her. I was always bullied at the Academy so I never really had any friends there. That’s a big part of why I volunteered. I’m here to show them all that they were wrong about me. I can win this.
Any last thoughts before we let you go?
Thank you, Panem! You really are a wonderful audience! And thank you to the Capitol for giving me this opportunity! Don’t forget to sponsor me and enjoy the games!
