The backdrop for this year's exciting Quarter Quell is based on what was once known as "Hawaii". A beautiful island paradise - or so it seems. Tributes will start on the "Cornucopia Island", a small circle of land completely cut off from the main island. The cornucopia, full of weapons and supplies, is the only thing besides the tributes on this little patch of land. Following the first bloodbath death, two small strips of land begin to form to connect the Cornucopia Island to the rest of the arena. Tributes can either risk the swim through shark-infested waters or wait the 15 minutes until the land bridges are completely stable to cross. Once on the main island, tributes are immediately faced with a lush and tropical jungle. They can choose to go around the jungle to the small cluster of uninhabited (?) Beach Huts, or go through the jungle to the majestic Mountains.

Based on Hawaii's Kamakou Preserve, this jungle is home to countless species of plants (some safe to eat and some lethal) and animals. Tributes can easily get lost in this dense terrain but it's teeming with food and water sources. Taking up the majority of the arena, this is an area most tributes will step foot in at least once. Dangers include acidic flower sap, swarming insects, and numerous roaming muttations.

On the West Coast of this island arena sits a small abandoned village comprised of huts. These shelters sit on the beachfront and offer plenty of hiding spaces. The best fishermen will be able to catch food off the coast and the most astute botanists will be able to find edible flora. But if you choose to stay here, you are not alone! Crab muttations, poisonous plants, and the occasional sting ray also make this area their home.

Those brave enough to hike up these green peaks are rewarded with splendid views. Based on Hawaii's Ko'olau Range, this area of the arena boasts plenty of foliage. There are lots of small animals and edible plants to eat here and ample fresh water, but beware of the wild pigs, poisonous snails, and goat muttations.
