ASHLYNN "ASH" REID | DISTRICT 8

Caesar: Good evening, Ashlynn! Tell us about what you're wearing tonight.
Ashlynn: Well, I think you can see it, it’s very out there! I feel like I’m some sort of princess and I should be running through a castle, but not the one from last year's games! It’s very beautiful and it’s even my favorite color! I will say though, what do you guys have against pants? They’re so much more comfortable! But I do love everything about this outfit. And my necklace that my sisters made for me, my token, helps me to feel more comfortable.

What have you thought about the Capitol so far? What's your favorite part?
I mean, it's the Capitol! Everything here is a billion times fancier than anything I’ve ever seen. The shampoo probably costs more than my entire district! My favorite thing... ooh that's hard. I would probably have to say the deserts! That's my favorite part of any meal.

Are you nervous? With this being a Quarter Quell, what are your thoughts on the twist?
Well obviously there’s some nerves involved, to go into it super confident can lead to letting your guard down. For the twist, well it’s one of those things that just changes everything, you know? Makes the games special and different from anything that has been seen before.

What kind of arena are you hoping for this year?
Well, whenever I’ve gone swimming that has been really fun, so maybe something with water? But with this being a Quarter Quell, it's hard to even begin to guess what’s waiting for us in there. Preferably something that doesn’t kill me in the first five minutes?

Do you feel prepared? What did you think of your training score? (Ashlynn received a score of 7).
I mean, I’ve been working hard and gaining some new skills, so now I’m not completely useless now. And I would just say, don’t count out the lower scores. Everyone has something up their sleeves, not just those with 10s.
Do you think you have what it takes to become a victor? Who are you fighting for?
I believe that I do. I might not be the strongest or the most intimidating competitor but everyone brings something interesting to the table and you never know who will have advantages in certain situations. And I’m fighting for my family, specifically my sisters, Emery and Jenessa. They are some of my best friends and I love them so much. Also anything I can do to make their lives, better I will!

Any shoutouts for anyone back home?
Yes! Besides my sisters it would have to be my best friends, Lucas and Aniston. Lucas and I have been friends since forever and Aniston is Emery’s age, but the 5 of us are best friends and I miss and love them all.

Thoughts on the other tributes? Have you made any notable friends or enemies?
Obviously I haven’t made any enemies. That doesn’t exactly seem like the smartest thing to do going into the Hunger Games, especially this one! And I’ve made a few good friends throughout this, some closer than others, but everyone else seems really great, too. I think in different situations we could have all been close friends.

Any last thoughts before we let you go?
I would just say that is has been a wonderful experience here in the Capitol! I hope I see you all again soon. Also don’t forget, wear more pants!
