Helia: Well, it’s much more comfortable than the tribute parade dress.

What have you thought about the Capitol so far? What's your favorite part?
The Capitol is very different from District Three — it can be a bit overwhelming. But having come from the district that created all the technology for you all, it’s been fun seeing it in use. As for my favorite part… I like the beds. They feel like clouds. What little sleep I’ve been getting has been well.
​
Are you nervous? With this being a Quarter Quell, what are your thoughts on the twist?
I’m always nervous, throwing me into the Games isn’t helping with that. I’m mostly worried about the twist because I’m not great at making friends. I’m afraid I’ll be one of the first to go.
​
What kind of arena are you hoping for this year?
I’m good at figuring things out, so any sort of arena with a lot of tricks and traps might benefit me. I’m hoping for a maze or some other type of puzzle that I can solve.
​
Do you feel prepared? What did you think of your training score? (Helia received a score of 10).
I’m very surprised by my score. I never thought a girl from District Three would get a ten. Training, for me, was helpful. I learned so much about myself as well as many skills that will come in handy in the days to come.
​
Do you think you have what it takes to become a victor? Who are you fighting for?
Being a victor… that seems like a long shot. I mostly just want to prove to myself that I can be strong and make good decisions. Even if it’s just for a few days. I want to make everyone at home proud.
​
Any shoutouts for anyone back home?
My older brother, Cori. He’s back home. He’s rooting for me.
​
Thoughts on the other tributes? Have you made any notable friends or enemies?
I have been keeping to myself, mostly. I don’t think I’ve made any enemies, but now you’re making me worry! I hope they all like me. As for friends, there are two other tributes who I’ve gotten along well with. Potential allies, I suppose.
​
Any last thoughts before we let you go?
No, not really. I guess... I just want to say, don’t count me out. I think a brain can be just as good as brute strength in the arena, and I’m ready to use mine. The question is: are the other tributes prepared to use theirs?
